We know that the travel industry contributes to a significant amount of waste and pollution. As an Eco-friendly traveler you care about the environment and want sustainability wherever you can find it. That being said, even with good environmental intentions, many of you don’t want to curtail your special holidays completely. The promise of a luxury trip is too compelling. Even as nature lovers who take  adventure excursions into the wilderness, you may want some glamor once in awhile. The idea of luxury isn’t often associated with going ‘back to basics’. But in response to environmental pressures and innovative design, the luxury industry is increasingly looking for a ways to offer its clients high-quality luxury with a low environmental impact.

Resort choices that combine luxury and sustainability

You can search sustainable resorts from a wilderness lodge in Alaska to luxurious resorts and spa in Florida and Maine or rustic inns in Wisconsin and New York to a luxurious green urban hotel in San Fransisco. There’s even a exotic Fiji Island resort to give you and your family a lasting experience where nature exists with luxury.

Sadie Cove Wilderness Lodge, Homer, Alaska

How they do Green:

sadiecove is a true escape since this Eco-lodge  only puts up a maximum of 12 guests per night or groups of six or more. Orchard Garden Hotel, San Francisco, California

How they do green:

theorchardgadenhotel is a LEED-certified hotel in the heart of what is arguably America’s greenest city. It’s easy to get around town without a car while in town by taking a stylish refurbished tram or renting a Prius. The nearby Point Reyes National Seashore is a wonderful nature trip.

 Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort

How they do green:

Jean-Michel Cousteau, like his father, is well known in the world of ocean exploration and environmentalism. He’s also spread his interest to a number of eco-resorts.

fijiresort  is one of his eco-resorts with an organic garden that  is meticulously cared for by dedicated staff who apply traditional Fijian agricultural methods combined with sustainable practices learned from international crop production experts. Resort-wide edible vegetation mean guests can enjoy tropical fruits, including pineapple, mango, papaya, coconut, guava and more, all included in our edible landscaping. The resort offers informative, educational programs for young guests to help them learn how nature works and its value to people. The resort demonstrates how to use nature to create more sustainable commerce in home communities.

Bon Voyage

Have a great trip will give you pleasure with sustainability. You can bet that!
