This family storybook vacation on the Grimms Fairy Tale Road started in  Hanau , the place where Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm were born. The journey continued on to Steinau der Strasse and Kassel.

Now let’s journey on to visit the remaining fascinating cities on this magical trip.

 

 

Gottingen

Continuing on the enchanted road to Gottingen is where the Brothers Grimm lived after they moved away from Kassel. While living here, the Grimm brothers held professorships at the city’s famous university, which was founded in 1734.

The most famous landmark in this city is the Goose Girl fountain in front of the medieval town. She is also the most kissed girl, since it is an essential part of graduation celebrations for every student who finishes a doctorate at the George August University, Gottingen to climb the fountain and kiss the statue of the goose girl.

Hamelin

Following along the road, you can travel to the famous city of Hamelin.
And who is responsible for the town’s fame?
Of course the “Rattenfänger von Hameln”, the “Pied Piper of Hamelin”! 
For centuries now, the “Pied Piper” has been the town’s landmark. You might want to join one of the town’s “Pied Piper” guided tours. The tours take you to the famous spots and historic locations out of which the fairy-tale evolved.

Bremen

The final city to visit is Bremen, the heart of North West Germany and home to the famous Bremen Town Musicians. The city’s Town Hall with its Renaissance architecture is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the famous bronze display of the Bremen Town Musicians on the Town Hall’s western side.
