Judy Kundert, the travel expert, sharing stories from her magic carpet

My love of airplanes and travel began at an early age. My first taste of travel came as a result of my father’s railroad career. I started at 3 when I journeyed from Omaha, Nebraska to Los Angeles with my family.  At this early age, I gained the taste for walking up and down the train aisle to chat with passengers. Even though I wore pajamas and temporarily escaped my mother’s watch, I found my love of meeting strangers and talking with them.

Then I encountered air travel when my parents and their friends would have dinner at the local airport in Pendleton, Oregon. Since this was the beginning of the Jet Age, airport restaurants were exceptional dining events in small towns. While I munched on dinner, I kept my eyes on the majestic airliners as they soared to far-off places. They beckoned me to hop on board.

My boarding began when I interviewed with a major airline for a job with stiff competition. Only 35 young women got selected from the 60,000 applications. I was one of the chosen interviewees.

As Toastmaster Competent Communicator and Spellbinder Storyteller my magic carpet bag contains thousands of life lessons at thirty thousand feet stories which I love to share with books clubs, small groups, social service clubs, and trade associations.

For meeting planners, here are the topics that I love to share to inspire your groups with travel’s wonder.

  • Why travel is a magic carpet to self-discovery?
  • How does travel increase your creativity?
  • What’s so great about the golden age of air travel?
  • Why you should travel more and text less?
